Fleet Manager
Summary of Position:
The ideal candidates should have a background in fast paced environments including experience with multi-line phones, and computer proficiency including Word and Excel. Individuals must be able to work in a self-motivated manner. This is a key operational position with the opportunity to advance and grow with the company. The ideal candidate will be capable at both Tractor trailer and Over-the-road dispatch as well. The focus is to prepare, execute, and follow up with all parties to ensure 24/7 service. The ideal candidate will meet all service requirements while adhering to the policies and procedures of Company. The candidate must possess strong relationship skills and always maintain a positive solution-based attitude.
- Serve as a reliable point of contact to balance drivers' health and safety with customer requirements.
- Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company, combining shipments, when necessary, based on their routes and timeline to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out.
- Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
- Coordinate the maintenance requirements between the driver and maintenance to ensure timely and safe operation of the equipment
- Manage and oversee the effective utilization of the district's vehicle assets.
- Facilitate communication between the driver, terminal manager, and customer service.
- Monitor and facilitate driver's progress throughout the day to ensure loads are delivered safely and within HOS regulations.
- Ensuring and coordinating driver compliance with all FMCSA requirements.
Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
- Associates or bachelor's degree preferred, GED or high school diploma required.
- Pneumatic dispatch with TMW experience preferred.
- 1 years in a transportation or logistics role.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
- Quantitative ability.
- Attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A strong background in navigating web-based computer programs
Work Hours: This is position usually works day shift during the week, but dispatchers can be on call 24/7, available to step in should a driver, customer or if some other unforeseen event should occur.
